The Lake Forest Symphony (LFS), the only fully professional orchestra in Lake County, has appointed Timothy Corpus as Executive Director effective July, 2017. The appointment comes as the LFS begins its 60th Anniversary Celebration this season.
Said Henry Fogel, former president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and current president of Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, “In Tim Corpus the Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra has chosen a brilliant young administrator. He balances musical knowledge with business and managerial skills.”
Corpus, age 29, is a local chap who graduated from Schaumburg High School and then received a Bachelor Degree in music from Roosevelt University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Hartford. He is a composer and a percussionist. He has been a production manager, teacher and his previous recent positions were as Executive Director of the Hyde Park Youth Symphony, Education Coordinator for the Northwest Indiana Symphony and Drumline Instructor at Loyola University. Also, Corpus is the recipient of several awards including one from ASCAP, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Illinois Arts Council.
The new Executive Director will be joining the LFS Solti Award Conductor, Vladimir Kulenovic who is beginning his 4th year with the Symphony. Kulenovic was named the 2015 “Chicagoan of the Year in Classical Music” by the Chicago Tribune’s John von Rhein and is considered an exciting young conductor in the international musical scene today.
The LFS annually presents five concert pairs in Classical Series which feature prominent guest artists. This year the concerts will be presented at the James Lumber Center in Grayslake and also twospecial Saturdaynight concerts will be presented at Lake Forest Academy. Further, the LFS has an intimate Salon Series of three concerts that are presented at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest.
