Lake Forest Symphony elects new Board President.

Lake Forest, Ill. – The Lake Forest Symphony Board of Directors has elected Raymond A. Frick to be the next board president. Mr. Frick has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2008. A long-time supporter of the arts, Mr. Frick has been involved with many community, charitable, and educational fund-raising efforts, including the Grant Park Music Festival Board of Directors; Chicago College of Performing Arts Board of Advisors, Roosevelt University; Chicago Lyric Opera Guild Board of Directors; Radford University, Accra, Ghana, Board of Trustees; 98.7WFMT Radio Network; Radio Committee and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Presidents at Pops.

Robert Shaw, a key member of the Board Executive Committee states, “The board of directors and I are very excited with our orchestra’s tremendous progress and growth in both artistic excellence and board membership strengthening. We look forward to another 60 years of music.”

Mr. Frick succeeds Stewart Kerr, executive director of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Kerr will remain an active member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, leading local community engagement efforts. Mr. Kerr led the Symphony during an important transitional period and worked closely with Mr. Frick on selecting the new Executive Director, Timothy Corpus. Mr. Frick was also an integral member of the Music Director search committee, which selected Vladimir Kulenovic as the seventh conductor for the Symphony.

“We’re grateful for Stew’s service and leadership during an important period of transition,” Frick said. “The full board joins me in expressing how pleased we are that Stew remains on both the board and its executive committee in his new role as Community Outreach and Engagement head. This is an overdue position for us, and we’re advantaged to have Stew’s gravitas and experience in this position.” 

“Ray is highly respected on our board and I look forward to our continued partnership as we further community outreach with a number of new engaging programs.” Kerr said.

Mr. Frick will assume the role of president of the Board of Directors as of Jan. 1, 2018. The Symphony will open 2018 with concerts featuring world-renowned vocalists Nicole Cabell & Alyson Cambridge. The Symphony will then be recording music from the concert for its second album with Cedille Records due out in fall 2018.
