Jim Kendros,
pre-concert lecturer
Jim Kendros is a professional composer with over 170 works to his credit. His works range from solo piano to works for chamber ensembles, orchestra and choir. His civic works include the Mount Prospect Overture (1992), Dance of Destiny (for Des Plaines, 1996) and Circle of Knowledge (for the North Suburban Library System, 1997). Jim is currently working on a piano concerto in memory of one of his students.
A Lecturer on all periods of music, Jim offers a varied menu of programs to Senior Centers, Cultural Centers and Libraries. He is a specialist in Baroque and Pre-Classical music and performance practices. As a music researcher, Jim specializes in the lives and music of various members of the Bach family, especially the sons of J. S. Bach. He is also devoted to bringing the music of Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn into the awareness of the musical public.
Mr. Kendros is a faculty member of Oakton Community College and is a frequent guest speaker on the North Suburban Library Cable Channel. His most recent civic work is a suite for piano for the Evanston Historical Society in honor of the historic Dawes Family.
