The Illinois Council of Orchestras announced the 2019 recipients of its annual awards in early March for excellence in the field of music performance and for support of musical organizations. An awards panel of judges drawn from the Illinois Council of Orchestras Board of Directors and independent professional conductors and musicians reviewed nominations representing orchestras, youth orchestras, and chamber ensembles throughout Illinois.

Lake Forest Symphony has had the honor of winning Professional Orchestra of the Year previously in 2006. Presentation of the awards will take place at the final Masterworks concert of the 2018-19 season on Sunday, May 19th at 2:00pm at the James Lumber Center.
