Symphony No. 9 in C (“The Great”)
Continuing our highly successful collaboration with Steinway of Chicago, we will present the winner of the 2011 Steinway Competition as soloist in one of the great piano concertos, sure to be a memorably dazzling performance. Opening this concert will be an overture by Lake Forest resident and internationally acclaimed composer, James Stephenson, who will be on hand to introduce his music and share the applause for his brilliantly conceived and immediately communicative music. Music of Schubert, the unequalled master of song, will end the concert: his monumental orchestral masterpiece, known everywhere as “The Great” C major symphony.
